Formal Concept Analysis is a method for conceptually analyzing data and knowledge. It arose as a mathematical theory for concepts and concept hierarchies. During the last decade, it focused more and more on applications within applied computer science. Formal Concept Analysis is e.g. used for qualitative Data Analysis, Knowledge Discovery, and Software Engineering. The lecture will present foundations and methods of Formal Concept Analysis, and will discuss them through real-world applications.

Die Formale Begriffsanalyse ist eine Methode zur begrifflichen Analyse von Daten und Wissen. Entstanden als eine mathematische Theorie für Begriffe und Begriffshierarchien, ist sie seit einigen Jahren immer stärker in den Blickwinkel der Informatik geraten. Die Formale Begriffsanalyse wird u.a. eingesetzt zur qualitativen Datenanalyse und der Wissensentdeckung. In der Vorlesung werden theoretische Grundlagen, Methoden und Anwendungen der Begriffsanalyse behandelt.
