Content
Internet and World Wide Web are changing our world, this core course provides the necessary background and methods for the design of central applications of the Internet, in particular in support of electronic commerce. After an introduction into Internet technology the following topics are addressed: information retrieval in the net, structure and functioning of search engines, secure communication, electronic payment systems and digital money, and - if time permits - security architectures (firewalls), data compression, distributed computing on the Internet. Active participation in the tutorials is strongly recommended. For students of information engineering and management this course belongs to area 5: "information services".
